The 15th Oakland International Film Festival will take place April 4-8th, 2017.

We are currently seeking films of all lengths that demonstrate the power of the moving image. We seek films that tell stories, fiction and documentary that highlight stories often not seen nor heard by mainstream media.

We seek films that are made by the cultures the film speaks to. We seek films that answer some of societies main problems: i.e. how can we end war? how can we save our planet? how can we build sustainable communities?

We seek films in all genres: i.e. animation, narrative, documentaries, music videos, whatever you want to call it! Is it a compelling story that needs to be seen is all that matters.

We seek films “Made in Oakland” that demonstrate the above and more! Because if it was “Made in Oakland,” the expectations are only higher!

We seek narrative films that highlight new talent, new writers, new cutting edge stories.

Since Oakland, Ca is known around the world as the home of the slogan “Power to the people,” we seek films that will empower the people, save our planet and inspire everyone to appreciate all cultures, all people, no matter what size they are, race they are, God they worship, etc.

We seek films that were made to build communities for the generations to come!
